ORDER OF THE FOEST SUPERVISER
LIMITING THE NUMBER OF DAYS A PERSON CAN CAMP
AT ONE LOCATION ON THE SHAWNEE NATIONAL FOREST

By the order of the Forest Supervisor, Shawnee National Forest, pursuant
to the authority set forth in the Act of June 4, 1897, as ammended (16 USC 551)
and the provisions of 36 CFR 261.50 of the Secretary of Agriculture's Rules and
Regulations, the following acts are prohibited upon lands of the Shawnee Nationszl
Forest.
1. Camping at, or leaving camping equipment at one location for more t
then fourteen (14) CONSECATIVE DAYS WITH CONTINUOUS OR INTERMENT PRE-
sence. ( 36 cfr 261.58 (A) ).

2. Establishing a campsite or being a membver of a camping party with-
in ten (10) mile radius distance of a previous campsite after having
occupied the previous campsite for fourteen (14) consecative days.
(36 CFR 261. 58 (a) ).

The above regulations are necessary to insure that camping locations on the
National Forest lands are available to the public and not occupied by one
camping party to the exclusion of all others. After reaching the 14 day limit
the camper or campers must vacate the site for at least 30 days.

Pursuant to 36 CFR, Sec. 261.50(e), the following persons are Exempt from this
order:

(1) Persons wqith a permit specifically authorizing the prohibited act
of omission.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more then $500
or imprisonment for not more than 6 months or both.
