   In memory of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Albert Hofmann's 
discovery of LSD, a Psychedelic-Cannabis Summit is being held 
by MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies), 
Island Group, California NORML and CAN (Cannabis Action 
Network) on Fri-Sat April 16th-17th in Santa Cruz and San 
Francisco.
   The April 16th event, which is devoted to LSD, features a taped 
message from Albert Hofmann plus speeches by Laura Huxley 
(Aldous' widow), author Robert Anton Wilson, Dr. Willis Harman 
of the Institute for Noetic Sciences, Stephen Gaskin (founder of 
the Farm), chaos theorist Dr Ralph Abraham, Dr. Lester Grinspoon 
and Timothy Leary among others.  Tickets are $30, proceeds of 
which go to MAPS to fund research on LSD and substance abuse.  
Time and place:  7 - 11:15 PM, UC Santa Cruz Performing Arts 
Theater.  
   The April 17th event, which is devoted to psychedelics and 
cannabis, will be an all-day exposition with psychedelic media, 
an art show, vendors, refreshments, and music by Geist.  
Speakers will include Terence McKenna, Laura Huxley, Timothy 
Leary, Stephen Gaskin, Caroline Garcia, Ralph Metzner, Kat 
Harrison (formerly McKenna), Allen Cohen, plus leading 
psychedelic researchers:  Dr. Charles Grob and Gary Bravo 
(MDMA), Richard Yensen and Dr. Donna Dryer (LSD), Dr. Igor 
Koungourtsev (ketamine), and many others
   A medical marijuana panel will feature Dr. Lester Grinspoon, 
who will make a major presentation about his new book, 
"Marijuana, the Forbidden Medicine," plus AIDS researcher Dr. 
Donald Abrams and medical marijuana activists Dennis Peron and 
Brownie Mary.  
   There will also be a drug policy summit conference, featuring 
legalization advocate Ethan Nadelmann, policy analyst Mark 
Kleiman, Libertarian Party director Stuart Reges, Drug Policy 
Foundation co-director Kevin Zeese, plus Dr. John Morgan and 
others.
   The conference will be held at the Unitarian Church in San 
Francisco, 1187 Franklin St., from 11 am to 11 pm.  Tickets $45 
(students and low-income special: $30).  Proceeds to benefit 
MAPS and California NORML.
