I block any use of the word 'wilderness'; because, it pushes the
buttons of too many people who tend to be sympathetic about what
we are doing. We reserve our inalienable right to gather freely
anywhere on Mother Earth of our choosing for the purpose of peace
and healing. Although while we have our heads in the stars, we
also have our feet on the ground. It is not our custom to gather
on U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, or
National Recreation Area, etc., controlled lands for the
principal reason that these are highly protected areas, as are
designated U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service
Wilderness Areas. Traditionally, although not exclusively, we
have gathered on the less protected lands controlled by the USDA
Forest Service. In other countries, on other continents, we have
resorted to other strategies, including the occupation of lands
controlled by federal military authorities, such as the
occupation of the Allentsteig military reservation in Austria in
1990. Ahimsa.
