New administrator faces familiar task

BUTTE, Mont. _ The first digit of every license plate here is the numeral 1. It's a remnant from when Montana ranked its counties by size, and when Silve rBow County was the state's largest, with more than 100,000 residents in 1921.

There won't be any new billboards allowed in the unincorporated areas of Spokane County. The question county commissioners face now is how many existing signs should be allowed to stay.

It's not unusual for a pediatric dentist's office to be crammed with fidgety youngsters, climbing over anything they can to take their minds off mammoth needles and whining drills.
