Mike:

My apologies for not following salutary protocol.

You imply that consensus is the only way to advance constructive
social projects. This is not the case. Many aspects of CALM, for
example are run on a hierarchical basis. Calling a council on how to
deal with a serious injury is ludicrous. (Can you imagine people
yelling "Respect the feather!!!!" while someone is bleeding to death?).
Consensus can't be used for every decision.

Other decisions, however, are ideally suited to consensus. Better
decisions about where to gather, who does what job, how money
should be spent, for example, can be made using consensus.

The principles stated in "Politics as Usual" are not my own. I use
them to root out corruption as a hog roots out truffles. I encourage
one and all to do the same.
