It was so great for me it's hard to put into words. I just kept thinking, "This is the peace and love vibe of the '60's!" So many people were just so loving and so giving. And the food was so good! I haven't been to a Gathering since 94 and 95, Wyoming and New Mexico, and in just two years the food scene has improved incredibly. Not that it was so bad before, but I found myself sitting in kitchens where people would just come up and hand me cherries, cantalope, tortillas, falafels, coffee, cookies, soup, and one even handed me a cup of peyote tea! Beautiful visions of rainbow colors. And the water scene was much improved, certainly from New Mexico. I just love all those brothers and sisters who put so much energy into the pipe system from the springs. The kitchens all were great, and whereas in Wyoming and New Mexico non-crew were barred from behind the kitchen counters, at Arizona anyone could just walk into a kitchen and have a seat in their comfortable chairs and probably someone would bring them food. Kiddie Village Kitchen even had an overstuffed armchair!! Every five minutes someone would hand you a joint, and the philosophical-religious discussions were amazing. I arrived Thursday, July 2nd, and while in Show Low I saw a rainbow in the sky, while I was looking for the Rainbow Gathering. Far out! I walked in from the parking lot to Main Circle and ran into an old friend I hadn't seen in a couple years and he turned me on and said, "Come camp with us." So I did, near Kiddie Village, and he was there with his girlfriend and his twin brother and his wife and kid and about two other brothers who had all come up together from Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo. It was starting to rain and they all came out and helped me set up my tent. The puppet show next door was fantastic. One Pot Kitchen, from Michigan was next to that and they served continuously--popcorn, gourmet coffee, potato garlic soup, salad, pancakes, you name it. The Variety Show with Fantuzzi and talent from the camp was excellent. The Main Circle meals were good and plentiful, and the speakers very thought- provoking. Kosher Kitchen and Brew-ha-ha were very well done. All the effort that went into lining the trails with logs and building log sitting circles and digging the shitters was much appreciated by me. Somebody built a fire pit and Main Circle made out of rocks fitting into each other and surrounded by a moat of water, a labor of love. I heard good reports about how helping and caring CALM was. The minstrels going from kitchen to kitchen were very entertaining and enlightening. I give the Rainbow Gathering ten stars. Everybody should go! I wish I was still there! -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum
