Depending on the model( U.S. Japan, Europe) some of the following steps may be omitted. First you must open up the RX. To do this 1. press VHF(144) button once to put the rig in the VHF side. Then press Func-set then Func-ENT This will open up the rig for extended receive. 2. press UHF(450) button once to put the rig in the UHF side. While keeping the function button pressed press the following sequence of buttons LAMP, SET, B, LAMP, 3. Once this is done 900 Mhz band should be open. To change bands press Func-Set, Func-3. 3. Once that's done now to open the TX part. Put your rig on VHF. Change your step size to 12.5, press CL(A) Press Func-8, Func-8, Func-7, Func-7 Func-MS.M Now you should have the + sign with out the T and the small inverted triangle on the display. Set your frequency to 145.00 Mhz Rotate the rotary knob and change the frequency to 144.9875. Press Func-SET, Func-ENT then CL. Now your rig should be able to transmit out of band. About 130Mhz to 176Mhz. This mod will disappear once the rig is reset.
