Actually, this wording
>...Association for Progressive Computing
> (APC) Institute for Global Communication (IGC) EcoNet and
> PeaceNet...
seem a bit more than neccesary, dontcha think?

how about

...
The newsgroup originally started on the Institute for Global Communication's
(IGC) PeaceNet 4 years ago and recently migrated to internet.
...
(In fact the APC is not the same as IGC. APC is a network of member networks.
IGC is a not-for-profit service provider.)

The awf.rainbownews conference was established on PeaceNet, not EcoNet.
Although they are essentially interchangable in practice, there's no reason to
clutter the charter with a reference to EcoNet.

Also, I'd like to add 'forest' to the first line. While I agree with Marcus
that 'wilderness' is inappropriate, I think that 'rural' doesn't really say
what needs to be said!
Play for Peace!

Version 8:
"For the discussion of Rainbow Gatherings held in urban, rural and forest
settings worldwide. The group also includes issues relevant to those
interested in learning more about peace and healing in the context of a loving,
generous community. The newsgroup originally started on the Institute for
Global Communication's (IGC) PeaceNet 4 years ago and recently migrated to
internet. The newsgroup has been in existence for 9 months and receives
regular postings."
