The poster of the Happy Halloween News Briefing asked whether the cops
have to read you your Miranda Rights when they arrest you. The answer is
that they only have to read you your rights if they want to question
you and use that information so obtained against you in court. If they
personally observed whatever it is they arrest you for and don't particularly
need any statement from you to seal the conviction, then there's no reason
for them to read you your rights. A real good rule to live by is:

IF YOU GET ARRESTED, (1) DEMAND A LAWYER, (2) SHUT UP AND SAY NOTHING, AND
(3) IF THE COPS PERSIST IN TRYING TO GET YOU TO TALK, TELL THEM THIS CON-
VERSATION HAS ENDED.

Think about what the Miranda rights are telling you:

You have the right to remain silent.

Why then would you want to talk?

You have the right to an attorney.

Then demand one.

Anything you say CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU in a court of law.

They're basically telling you that they're going to fuck
you with your own words. Don't let them. Just SHUT UP!

If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you.

Good. Use him or her.

Peace, and Welcome Home.
