Rob Savoye
Hi, I'm Rob, a self-employed computer consultant. I work at home in my
living room here on Caribou Ranch. This place use to be Caribou
Recording studio years ago... I specialize in development tools
(compilers & debuggers), operating systems, graphics, robotics,
embedded systems, and web stuff. I'm also a long-time Linux hacker,
and member of the GNU project. Email me if you any projects that
could use my assistance. Current Open Source projects I'm the primary
maintainer of are DejaGnu, the GNU regression
testing framework, and Nilo, the GNU
network boot loader.
I live a few miles outside of the town of Nederland, at the gateway to the Indian Peaks
Wilderness, and surrounded by Roosevelt National Forest. Nederland's a
town of about 1500 people 20 miles west of Boulder at about 8236
feet. I have a great view of the Continental Divide from here, it's
only walking distance away. :-) Here's a few pictures of my house if you want to
see what it looks like.
For those that must see what I look like, here's a fairly recent picture.
- Alternative Living Technologies
- This is a collection of information on appropriate technologies
for waste processing, power generation, greywater, domes, and
greenhouses.
- Road Trips
- I really love road trips, Ever read Jack Kerovac's "On The
Road" ? I used to do tours with the Grateful Dead, plus the epic
climbing trips too. I scanned in some photos from some of my various
trips if you'd like to see what I do for fun.
- Outdoor Sports
- Among my interests (other than computers) are outdoor sports, namely
Climbing, (rock, ice, winter mountaineering, caving, etc...), Snow
Shoeing, Sking (backcountry and Cross Country), kayaking, and
rafting.
- Alternative Living
- I'm also a long time Dead Head, and a Rainbow
Family focalizer. I'm a supporter of the home and community, hence
I believe strongly in home-birthing, home-schooling, building
community, and an active, healthy life-style. I also think that
striving for low-impact on the planet and self-sufficiency is a good
thing.
- Computer Related Stuff
- As far as computer passions go, I'm heavily into embedded systems,
realtime OS's, graphics, FREE software, and Community access to
Internet. I'm also the author of DejaGnu, the GNU testing
framework, and Libgloss, the GNU BSP package, and primary maintainer
of Nilo, the GNU network boot loader.
- Local Colorado Stuff
- Various non-profit groups that I work with are the Colorado Legal Eagles, Mt Peoples
Coop, Colorado Hemp Initiative Project,
Boulder Community Network
(BCN), and the new PeakNet.
- Cisco Ad
- I've long had a Cisco 2000 router for my net connection, which has
survived almost 8 years of what passes for electrical power around
here. So when they asked me to do an ad, I thought I'd return the
favor. This was publish during April, 1999 in Japanese newspapers.
