The Arkansas National Guard
39th Support Battalion of the 39th Brigade

The Arkansas National Guard (click here to visit their site) is stationed in the 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish. Their mission is to clean out houses at the request of residents. They had 1100 houses on the list. The soldiers carry heavy, waterlogged coaches, mattresses and refrigerators out of hurricane damaged homes. They also staff supply outposts in remote parts of the parish providing food, water and ice to those who need it.
