After the great flood there was a rainbow...and the believers | |
Welcome Home Cafe New Waveland Cafe and Market |
November 2005. I witnessed a region still in the very beginnings of recovery. Twisted, muddied remains of status, wealth, and comfort gave a new poinantcy to the frailty of our time on the planet. It was difficult to photograph because the markers that allow a viewer to “understand” a picture--the placement of objects-- were scrambled. I saw a shrimp boat in the middle of a neighborhood street. Cars were on rooftops. Twisted wreckage from gutted buildings was piled nearly as high as the buildings themselves. There were no birds. The area had a strange quiet. You will need the Flash plug in to view the slide shows on this site. Most computers have it installed already, but if you do not, please follow this link: http://www.macromedia.com |
